Roberto Cavalli’s Fashion Showcase Allures its Audience into a Kingdom of Exotica

On November 12, Shang Magazine, the premium Chinese luxury fashion-lifestyle magazine based in New York City co-hosted a fashion showcase with the Italian luxury fashion house Roberto Cavalli in the brand’s exotic two-floor Madison Avenue flagship boutique. Approximately over 40 Chinese-speaking tour operators from the greater New York area attended the event.

Established since 1972, Roberto Cavalli has quickly become one of the world’s most coveted fashion brands. Known by its extravagant, bold, and expansive fashion items including menswear, womens wear, leather goods, and fragrances, this Italian label pioneered and became the first brand to incorporate the elements of animal prints, leather prints, and patchworks into Mr. Cavalli’s signature designs. After the guests were welcomed to the store’s reception where champagne and refreshments were served, the vivid presentation started promptly at 6:30pm by Mr. Cristiano Mancini, Director of Marketing of Roberto
Cavalli through which the guests learnt about the brand’s unique history and its increasing influence in the Asian markets. It is worth mentioning that one of the major techniques used in Mr. Cavalli’s magic with clothing is screen print, which was first originated from China during the Song Dynasty. It was more than a mere coincidence that Mr. Cavalli brought this ancient printing technique into the modern clothing making by which his brand is known for worldwide.

During the brief tour given by the friendly sales people in the store after the presentation, the guests showed great interests in the distinctive animal and floral prints seen in most of the collections. One guest told Shang that she used to do fashion wholesales around the city’s garment district, and Roberto Cavalli has always been one of her go-for brands. Meanwhile, most of the male guests were impressed by the entire boutique layout revamped by the label’s exotic animal prints and lavishness. Later in the Q&A session, questions such as the pricing and the label’s future development in China were addressed. It was great to learn that after the boutiques opened in Beijing and Hong Kong, Roberto Cavalli will enter Shanghai in 2013.

Finally, the showcase ended in a cheerful spirit when two lucky lady guests won the quiz and the grand raffle prize respectively. With a good will, Roberto Cavalli gave away a pure handmade, luxury leather handbag worth the retail price of 2,500USD to the raffle winner!

Knowing that next year is the year of snake in China and the brand is symbolized by its beginning towards a prosperous year of cooperation with Shang and Chinese customers.
