Ms. Bristow gave the opening remark and briefly introduced the brand’s history, heritage, products, quality, and factory. According to Bristow, the Ghurka name originally came from the Ghurka soldiers in the Himalayas in the British army, and has since been a symbol for bravery, loyalty and optimism. Founded in 1975 by Marley Hedgson, an enthusiastic antique collector with a genuine passion for leather craft and military gear, Ghurka now has two flagship stores in New York, one in Soho and the other on Fifth Avenue. As an authentically American, upscale brand designed and handmade in its Connecticut factory, the brand has won the hearts of numerous top celebrities such as Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Tom Hanks, as well as NBA basketball player Lebron James.

The presentation was followed by a fun quiz with two questions. Visibly excited, attending tour operators raised their hands to give answers, and two gentlemen from the audience won black Ghurka belts. Another highlight of the night was the raffle drawing, and George Gu was the lucky winner of the $995 black Ghurka Stash bag. Interviewed by Shang, Gu said enthusiastically that “I saw the Stash bag when I first came in and liked it a lot. I was really excited to be the winner, and this is truly an amazing experience. As a tour guide, I find events like this extremely helpful in getting me to know the brands better. Thank Shang and Ghurka for putting together such a wonderful event. From now on, I will definitely spread the word on the Ghurka brand among my Chinese clients.”
