Davide Cenci Opens New Window for Well-heeled Chinese Luxury Shoppers

On September 27, Shang Magazine co-hosted with the Italian luxury fashion house Davide Cenci a fashion showcase in the brand’s exquisite Madison Avenue boutique store. Approximately over 20 receptive Chinese-speaking tour operators from the greater New York area attended the event.

It is with this  uncompromised attitude for quality and timeless style that could effortlessly last for generations that made Davide Cenci a highly exclusive fashion label. In Rome as well as in New York, Davide Cenci is known for dressing the most bon vivant men and women who value quality above everything else. After the enthusiastic tour operators enjoyed the delicious refreshments provided by the store, the event started first by a brief introduction by David Cenci, the brand’s owner who is also the grandson of the founder. Mr. Cenci recounted the glorious history of the label and the guests learnt that Davide Cenci was one of the first stores in Italy that specialized in making ready-to-wear clothing for men. “More importantly,” said Mr. Cenci, “Until today, we still make sure that everything sold in this store is made in Italy, just like the way it was 80 years ago.”

During the brief tour given by the store manager Micky Kwan after the speech, guests were amazed by the exquisite sewing techniques and world class fabrics Davide Cenci’s clothing are made by. “For the top-notch quality we present here, we are confident that our merchandises carry a competitive edge in pricing compared to other brands,” said Mr. Kwan.

The event ended in high spirit with the prized quiz and raffles. Wei Jiang, the luckiest man of the night hit the jackpot and won both quiz and raffles. Loaded with gifts specially prepared by Davide Cenci, Mr. Jiang joyfully commented that very often he is unsure about giving suggestions to those Chinese visitors who want to shop for high quality men’s wear; now he knows that the best place is right here in Davide Cenci.

Positioned as “classic Italian style with a twist”, Davide Cenci is still privately owned and limits its stores to only three globally which are in Rome, Milan, and New York City respectively. “After all,” said Mr. Cenci, “we do not do mass merchandising. Our mission is to sell high quality wears with a great reflection of value.”
