Shang brings Chinese tour operators an up-close look at luxury watchmaking

Shang Magazine, a New York based life-style publication targeting the Chinese tourist market, held a luxury watch showcase for Chinese tour operators in Manhattan on Friday January 6th. Approximately 100 New-York based tour operators who annually receive hundreds of thousands of tourists from Mainland China met representatives from three of the luxury Swiss watch makers and received detailed information on their products.

Representing the brands were president of Girard Perregaux USA, U.S. sales director of Hublot, and president of Jaeger-Lecoultre. The three gentlemen gave a 30 minute presentation and shared the history, culture, and philosophy of their brands with the attendees. The presentations were enthusiastically welcomed by the Chinese tour operators who used the opportunity to ask questions regarding product, pricing, and footprint during the Q & A session.

The brands also brought gifts for the tour operators and they include limited edition fountain pen sets, watch, and leather goods. Five lucky tour operators left the event with raffled gifts which include a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Grande Taille Watch valued at $7,100.

Helen Li, Shang’s marketing director, said that the magazine will continue to hold similar events to provide a platform for luxury brands and the local tourist market to engage each other.
